ZTAG Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 28, 2026

About This Policy

ZTAG, Inc. (“ZTAG,” “we,” “us”) makes active learning hardware for schools and program operators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy covers two distinct contexts:

  • Visitors and business contacts who use ztag.com or contact us about our products
  • Schools, program operators, and partners who purchase and operate ZTAG hardware

It is important to read Section 2 first — our position on student data is the foundation of everything else in this policy.

Student Data — Our Position

ZTAG does not collect, store, or transmit personally identifiable information (PII) about students.

Our hardware records aggregate gameplay metrics — such as step counts, interaction events, and game outcomes — that are not linked to individual student names, accounts, or rosters. ZTAG does not maintain student accounts, rosters, or profiles. Devices are shared across users between sessions.

Because ZTAG does not collect student PII:

  • COPPA, FERPA, and SOPIPA obligations applicable to student data do not apply to ZTAG hardware or firmware.
  • We cannot disclose student data to third parties because we do not have it.
  • Schools and program operators retain full control over which students use which devices.

A note on device assignment. Each ztagger has a unique device ID used internally for gameplay coordination. If a school assigns the same ztagger to the same student every day over a long period, that device ID could become indirectly associated with that student. To preserve the privacy-by-design model, we recommend rotating ztagger assignment across students rather than fixed 1:1 assignment. ZTAG does not enforce or monitor assignment patterns.

The remainder of this policy describes information we collect from website visitors and business contacts — not from students using ZTAG hardware.
